Want to connect two battery banks? Traditional dual-battery systems require:

• Same chemistry (both lithium OR both AGM, never mixed)
• Same capacity (example: both 300Ah, can't mix 300Ah + 100Ah banks)
• Same age (mixing old + new causes voltage imbalance)

Break any of these rules and your system fails, damages batteries, or creates fire hazards. So you throw away working batteries worth thousands.

Can I really mix different chemistries, capacities, AND ages?

Yes! KALION DUO™ is the first system designed to handle ALL three:

• Different Chemistries: Example: LiFePO4 + AGM, LI + GEL, any combination works
• Different Capacities: Example: 300Ah + 100Ah, 400Ah + 150Ah, doesn't matter
• Different Ages: Example: Brand new 2024/ 2025 + aging 2019, no problem

How? KALION DUO™ doesn't charge your batteries — it switches between them for
load supply. Each bank charges independently from your solar/shore power/alternator.
KALION DUO™ monitors each bank's voltage independently and switches which bank powers
your load based on YOUR thresholds.

This means you can:

• Use your old 2019 AGM bank with your new 2024/2025 lithium bank
• Mix a degraded 200Ah bank (now 140Ah effective) with a fresh 300Ah bank
• Combine different chemistries that would destroy each other if paralleled

As long as both banks are the same system voltage (both 12V, both 24V, or both 48V),
KALION DUO™ manages them safely and intelligently

What if my banks have different capacities (e.g. 300Ah + 100Ah)?

No problem! KALION DUO™ monitors each bank independently. You set custom voltage thresholds for each bank on the touchscreen.

For example:
• Bank 1 (300Ah): Switch when voltage drops to 44V
• Bank 2 (100Ah): Switch when voltage drops to 42V

KALION DUO™ intelligently manages both banks based on YOUR preferences. Different capacities, different discharge curves, different chemistries — all handled automatically.

Does this replace my BMS (Battery Management System)?

No. KALION DUO™ is not a BMS — it's an intelligent load switching system. Your lithium batteries still need their own BMS for cell balancing and protection. KALION DUO™ sits"above" your BMS and manages which battery bank powers your load.

Think of it this way:
• Your BMS protects individual cells in each battery
• KALION DUO™ manages which bank supplies power to your load

KALION DUO™ works with your existing BMS, not instead of it.

How is this different from a manual battery switch?

Manual battery switches require you to physically turn a knob when your primary bank is low. Problems with manual switches:

• You lose power during the 30-second switch
• You forget to switch until it's too late
• You have to constantly monitor voltage

KALION DUO™ monitors both banks 100 times per second and switches automatically based on your set thresholds. Zero downtime. Zero manual intervention. You set it once and forget it.

What current can KALION DUO™ handle?

• 75A continuous per bank (150A total with dual banks active)
• 150A surge capacity (5 seconds) for motor starts and high-inrush loads
• 200A peak (1 second) for emergency headroom

This is enough for:
• 12V system: 900W continuous, 1.8kW surge
• 24V system: 1.8kW continuous, 3.6kW surge
• 48V system: 3.6kW continuous, 7.2kW surge

Perfect for RV air conditioners, marine systems, off-grid solar, and van life setups.

What happens if both banks are low?

KALION DUO™ will disconnect the load to protect both banks from over-discharge(based on your configured thresholds). Before this happens, KALION DUO™ triggers visual and audible alarms to warn you:

• Touchscreen displays low voltage warning
• LED indicators flash
• Optional buzzer sounds
• WiFi/Bluetooth sends notification to your phone

You can configure multiple warning levels (e.g."Warn at 45V, disconnect at 42V")
to give yourself plenty of notice.

Why not just use a Victron Battery Protect or Blue Sea ACR?

Victron Battery Protect ($130-180):

Is KALION DUO™ certified (UL, CE, etc.)?

KALION DUO™ is currently in prototype phase. Production units will undergo certification for:

• CE (European safety standards)
• FCC (electromagnetic interference)
• RoHS (hazardous substances)
• IP54 (dust/splash protection)

Marine-specific certifications (NMEA 2000, ABYC) are planned for post-launch. Early backers are helping us fund these certifications as part of the Indiegogo campaign.

Is KALION DUO™ patent protected?

Yes! KALION DUO's™ innovative dual-bank switching technology is patent pending (US Application 63/940,124, filed December 2024). Our load-side switching method that enables mixing different chemistries, capacities, and ages is the first of its kind and protected by intellectual property.

This means our unique approach—monitoring each battery bank independently and switching load delivery without parallel connections—cannot be copied by competitors. We're committed to protecting our innovation while bringing this breakthrough technology to market.
